This one is a bit out of left field. Today Soundgarden released a new song entitled ‘Storm’ with no warning or context, marking their first release since 2012’s King Animal. Rumor has it that it’s an old song that they’ve rerecorded, and it certainly does smack of Soundgarden’s classic pre-Superunknown style. Cornell doesn’t really reach for the highs here, sticking to a low, near-chant style for most of the song. As a whole, this track has a nice, eerie vibe to it, and doesn’t concern itself with going anywhere in particular. It’s a nice little treat to have woken up to today, at the very least.
